Governments worldwide are considering implementing Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) to help address the adverse environmental impact of waste containers on our planet. Retailers are already starting to understand the issue of single use plastic and trying to improve their packaging methods to help address this and now have an ideal opportunity to take the lead in the war on single use plastics. Investing in recyclever® reverse vending machines can help support the cause and make the world a better place for everyone.
WITH a Government Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) in place
In a deposit return scheme, all consumers pay a small deposit on a container, which is added to the price of the beverage in store and refunded when the bottle is returned via a Return Point. A Return Point can be a Manual Return Point, or an Automated Return Point (Reverse Vending Machine). Retailers that fall under the jurisdiction of a Deposit Return Scheme are obliged to provide a Return Point, and the majority will choose to use Reverse Vending Machines as the financial benefits tend to outweigh that of a Manual Return Point. If a retailer can forecast at least 200 collections per day then costs of a purchasing a Reverse Vending Machine would be covered (this is based on the handling fees outlined by Circularity Scotland, true as of 10th October 2022)
WITHOUT a DRS
Reverse Vending Machines aren't exclusive to Deposit Return Schemes. You can utilise the benefits of a Reverse Vending Machine in any location. Larger Retailers may want to create their own DRS, or a 'Closed Loop Deposit Return Scheme'. Recyclever can collaborate with you to integrate your own Software Solutions or Loyalty Apps. Encourage your employees and/or customers to return their recyclable containers to our Automated Return Points (or RVM's). Not only will you be doing your bit for the sustainability of our planet, but you'll be retaining footfall at worst, and creating vast marketing opportunities. Whether this is by demonstrating your CSR (corporate social responsibilities) or generating advertising revenue in high footfall locations.
